Our Product Review - Dryer Sheets

Brand Name: Rocky Mountain Soap Company
Product Name: Lull Dryer Bags
Cost: $6.49 for 3 inch pouch
Where did we get it? Where have we seen it?: on-line from Rocky Mountain Soap Company
Tester: Patti
Rating (out of 5): 4.5
Comments: I’m not a dryer sheet user, so I never really looked for a natural, non-toxic replacement. But I stumbled upon this great product from a Canadian company that is committed to natural body care products. When using a clothes dryer in the winter, static is an issue – and the Lull bag helps with the static. But even more appealing is the subtle scent it imparts to cloths. As a users of “clean laundry soaps” there is not much “scent” This is a good thing but at times I miss the absence of any scent on my towels and sheets. The subtle lavender scent is just enough to keep to nose happy without synthetic fragrances. I have been using the pouch for 2 months now and it is still softly fragrant.

Ingredients: Cotton pouch, lavender flowers.

Brand Name: Norwex
Product Name: Dryer Balls
Cost:
Where did we get it? Where have we seen it?: Norwex
Tester: Patti and Tamey
Rating (out of 5): 3.5 and 4.0
Comments: Patti has been using the dryer ball too. They do make towels fluffy and keep the static down. However, she has dryer with a “cool” cycle which intends to reduce the temperature for he last 10 minutes to set the laundry items so wrinkles are reduced. I found that the bouncing around of the dryer ball tended to set more wrinkle into the clothes during the cooling cycle. Not an issue for towels but for the seemingly hundreds (a bit exaggerated …?) t-shirts she does a week, it left a them a bit too wrinkled.

Tamey once she got use to the noise in the dryer she was pleased that she no longer used chemical laden dryer sheets. However it has come to her attention while researching the dryer sheet e-bulletin that most dryer balls are made from PVC plastic, which releases carcinogenic dioxin during production and may release hormone-disrupting phthalates during use. She did double check and Norwex dryer balls are made from plant based PVCs. She will contact the manufacture to ensure that these balls are not a petroleum product and will update this page.

Brand Name: Beane Bag
Product Name: Static Eliminator Dryer Sheets
Cost: $10.49 good gor 500+ loads
Where did we get it? Where have we seen it?: Rainbow Foods
Tester: Tamey
Rating (out of 5): 4.0
Comments: OK so these sheets are made from the same material as some of my clothes, not sure how they work but they do. I rate this one a 4.0 as I have only tried them for about 5 loads of wash. The static cling was minimal and my clothes were soft and there are no chemicals - that's really I'll I'm asking for. Apparently the sheets last 500 plus loads, which is great. I have yet to try this product on a load of towels - I'll let you know when I do.
