Brand Name: Lavera Naturkosmetik - Trend sensitiv
Product Name: Compact Powder, No. 2
Cost: $36.49 ml
Where did we get it? Where have we seen it?: Health Food Store
Tester: Patti
Rating (out of 5): 2.5
Comments: My cosmetic bag contains several effective
Lavera cosmetics that I use everyday. The Compact Powder is not going
to join them. To be fair, this is one of the first mineral powders
I used and I know my application technique needs some help, but the
powder puff that came inside the compact case but not effective at
all - it just mushed the powder and it went on very cakey. Eventually
it just got hard and it was difficult to get powder onto puff. I continue
my search.

Product Name: Mineral Foundation Powder - Medium
Cost: $36.95 6 grams
Where did we get it? Where have we seen it?: Natural
Health and Beauty
Tester: Patti
Rating (out of 5): 4.0
Comments: Miessence is an Australian line of cosmetics
and personal care products made to the highest organic standards.
I wanted to try their cosmetics and the mineral powder appealed as
it only contained a few ingredients - it's very "clean".
This is a loose powder - and takes careful application. I learned
with this product not to brush up my face as this just coated the
hairs on face. (Not very attractive!) Brushing down proved a smoother
finish.

Brand Name: Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics
Product Name: Youngblood Pressed Mineral Foundation
Cost: $35.00 for 12 g
Where did we get it? Where have we seen it?: Salon
Tester: Patti
Rating (out of 5): 2.0
Comments: I bought this product at a high end spa
that touted itself as "natural". I was happy to see a line
of cosmetics that also touted itself as natural and promptly bought
the face powder. Oops - I didn't check the label and bought myself
some parabens, bismuth oxychloride and a few others that I don't want
in my cosmetics. I tried it a few times and found it much too heavy
and pastey. This product had good reviews on-line but not from me.

Brand Name: Pure + Simple Cosmetics
Product Name: Pure Foundation - Orchid
Cost: $39.95 for 14 grams
Where did we get it? Where have we seen it?: On-line from Pure
+ Simple
Tester: Patti
Rating (out of 5): 3.5
Comments: Pure + Simple is a Toronto-based spa that
also manufactures its own line of cosmetics and face and body products.
The owner is committed to producing the "cleanest" products
for everyday use. This product goes on better with a brush - the sponge
that comes with the compact is ok but after a while it gets grimy
and is not effective in applying product.

Brand Name: Cover FX
Product Name: Mineral FX
Cost: $37.00
Where did we get it? Where have we seen it?: Shoppers Drug Mart
Tester: Patti
Rating (out of 5): n/a
Comments: I read an article about the Cover FX and
its new line of cosmetics for everyday called Mineral FX. It was readily
accessible at my local Shopper's and I went out to purchase. I have
learned my lesson from previous "buy it without reading label"
and this time I stopped and took a look. Although it does have the
minerals with all its inherent good properties, I wasn't too keen
on the bismuth oxychloride (can be a skin irritant) and the preservatives
(sodium benzoate and sodium dehydroacetic Acid). So I passed on this
one.
